TraininG for beginnerS over 40

As we get older it is more important that we look after our general health and fitness.
Ok, so working out isn't the fountain of youth and the gym isn't Never Never Land. Whether you sit on your butt or keep active, time still passes and we do get older.
Expanding waist lines, stiff joints and lack of energy are not things you should accept just because you've passed the big 40 !!
A lot of people have the notion that resistance training (training with weights) is age resticted - that it is something done only by younger men and women to perfect the body beautiful.
However, resistance training has a big part to play in combatting many of the physical side effects that we would associate with getting older.
For a lot of people as they age, just as the the number of candles on the cake gets bigger so does the waist line and the risk of type 2 diabetes, energy levels decrease, joints become stiffer, we lose bone density leading to osteophorsis, blood pressure and cholesterol rise, as does the risk of serious illness like heart disease and stroke.
RESISTANCE TRAINING FOR THE FIRST TIME?
Are you
-
Worried about looking/feeling out of place in a commercial gym?
-
Embarrassed/Self conscious
-
Worried about being able to keep up?
-
Worried the ‘experts’ don’t have the life experience to understand what it is like to train after 40?
Thinking about getting active over the age of 40 is easy, but actually getting up and doing it is not. Being a bit of a ‘late bloomer’ myself I think I can safely say I understand exactly where you are right now.
Entering the weights room of any large commercial gym can be intimidating for beginners - especially for those of our vintage - but we can offer 1:1 personal training in a non-intimidating, relaxed environment, in a city centre studio in the heart of Temple Bar.
Whether you want to
-
Lose weight
-
Gain muscle
-
Shape up
-
Feel healthier, fitter and more energised, or
-
simply want to challenge yourself
resistance training is definitely the way to go.
When it comes to training and nutrition we understand through personal experience, for some us, that although being over 40 is not a handicap it does offer its own challenges.
So, if you are
